Penn Quarter On-Site Monastery
Welcome to the Penn Quarter Monastery of the Heart Group!
Are you looking for a place to re-charge in the middle of your work day? Are you looking for a place to explore spirituality? Are you looking for meaning?
This gathering will explore and deepen our spiriutal lives using the Rule of Benedict. In particular, St. Benedict founded communities around "simply living this life, daily life, well. He turned the ordinary into an experience of the extraordinary, a union with the sacred in the here and now."
That means, whether you work in the judicial system in which we sit, a specific government agency, at a nearby museum, the Verizon Center, or, are retired or don't work you are welcome as we seek a meaningful and spiritual life and to live well with one another in all we do.
We will meet the first Thursday of each month at First Trinity Lutheran Church - on the corner of 4th and E St. NW. Feel free to bring lunch if you are attending on your lunch hour. We will begin at 12:15 and end at 1:15. We will use the same format each week to enhance our understanding, learning and absorption of the Rule for our lives that are not lived in a monastery!
As resources for this group, we will use:
1. Book: The Monastery of the Heart: An Invitation to a Meaningful Life by Sister Joan Chittister
2. Electronic: The website Monastery of the Heart
Please join us and bring a friend!
