Monasteries of the Heart

Searching for the Dharma

You've traveled up ten thousand steps in search of the Dharma.
So many long days in the archives, copying, copying.

The gravity of the Tang and the profundity of the Sung
make heavy baggage.

Here! I've picked you a bunch of wildflowers.
Their meaning is the same
but they're much easier to carry.

Pray this Poem

Read the poem, aloud if possible.

Think about this question: Are the images or metaphors relevant to your daily life?

Invite the Holy Spirit into your heart.

Sit with the poem for 10 or 15 minutes.

Respond in some way: drawing, writing, silence.
