A Lenten Series on Brigid, Hildegard, and Teresa

Join us as we explore the stories of three revolutionary women saints. 

March 9 - April 3
12 sessions: 9 asynchronous forum discussions and 3 live zooms 

Brigid of Kildare (Ireland, 6th c.), Hildegard of Bingen (Germany, 12th c.) and Teresa of Avila, (Spain, 16th c.) are three women who represent a profound lineage in our spiritual tradition. Each of them were foundresses and abbesses, writers and visionaries. They struggled with patriarchy, and still fearlessly led their communities. They struggled with hierarchy, and still compassionately served the poor and oppressed. Each woman was both saintly and subversive, living in her fullness and inviting those around her to do so as well. 

These stories from across ages give us courage of heart and soul to follow their example and live into our wholeness today. Each week, we will introduce the wisdom figure, share three stories from her life, and gather on Zoom to discuss the inspiration of their lives. 

This offering coincides with Catholic Women Strike, an effort from Women’s Ordination Conference to raise questions about women’s role in the Catholic Church today. We hope that through sharing this lineage of courageous women, it will be a source of spiritual sustenance to those striking, as well as those pursuing other ways to stretch their hearts this Lenten season.
